Tentative
Agreement Ratified

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2003 — By a substantial margin, UE members in the GE chain have ratified the proposed 2003-2007 National Contract between UE and GE.

The voting was conducted over the past few days by UE-GE local unions across the country. The tentative agreement had been recommended for acceptance by the UE-GE Conference Board at its meeting held on June 17th in New York City.

The new contract is effective retroactive to June 16th and will run until June 17th, 2007.

UE-GE Tentative Agreement

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2003 — A UE-prepared summary of the 2003-2007 UE-GE Tentative Agreement is now available online.

UE members in UE-GE local unions will be voting on the proposal over the next week, with voting to conclude by no later than Wednesday, June 25th. We will post an announcement about the results when they become available.

Unanimously Recommends
Contract Ratification

TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2003 — Meeting in New York this morning, the UE-GE Conference Board has voted unanimously to recommend acceptance to UE locals of the tentative agreement reached Sunday with the General Electric Company (GE) for a new National Contract. The UE-GE Conference Board is made up of representatives from UE-GE locals nationwide.

This morning's action follows a unanimous decision by the UE Negotiating Committee to recommend acceptance to the Conference Board.

The proposed contract now goes to UE locals, which will be taking ratification votes.

Tentative Agreement Reached

SUNDAY, JUNE 16, 2003 — The UE-GE Negotiating Committee has reached a tentative agreement with the General Electric Company (GE) for a new four-year National Contract.

The UE-GE Conference Board will meet Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in New York City. The Conference Board will consider the proposed contract and make a recommendation to accept or reject to the UE-GE membership.

National Strike Targets
GE's Medical Cost-Shifting

UE members in locals from New England to California successfully completed the first national strike against General Electric in 33 years in January. Responding to the company’s medical cost-shifting in its Health Care Preferred (HCP) managed care insurance plan, UE members stopped work at 16 different bargaining units across the country.
