Mid-October
Bargaining Session
Produces No Results

October 17th: A Wednesday, October 16, bargaining session, the second since Azteca workers began a strike for justice on September 30th, failed to produce a settlement. Further talks are being scheduled. Workers on the bargaining committee returned to the picket line and urged members and supporters to stand strong on the lines.

Strike leaders vowed to escalate the political, community and economic pressure on Azteca and its CEO, Art Velasquez. Plans for a boycott of Azteca products, along with a series of new demonstrations at grocery stores in several states, are on the drawing board, along with other new steps in a widening comprehensive campaign aimed at stopping Azteca's unionbusting
practices and paving the way for a contract settlement.
