Wages Increase for Keokuck
School District Staff

KEOKUCK, Iowa

UE Local 893-98, representing secretaries, clerical workers, and teacher associates at the Keokuk Community School District, has ratified a new three-year agreement.

In the first year of the agreement, wages will increase with a $.20 increase on the base for each classification plus step movement. In years two and three of the contract, wages will increase with a three-percent increase on the base for each classification plus step movement. The average increase each year is 4 percent.

For employees with 20 years of service, the longevity payment will increase from the current $.40 per hour (after 15 years of service) to $.50 per hour. Also, teacher associates who achieve state-approved paraprofessional certification will receive a $300 bonus.

With a nearly 30 percent increase on insurance premiums, three new insurance plan options will now be provided to employees. The district will continue to pay the full cost of single insurance coverage under a plan with increased deductibles.

In year two of the agreement, the monthly contribution to employee annuities will increase from $25 per month to $35.

The union bargaining committee consisted of Barb Benedict, Jane Legan, Kathy Vermillion, Sheila Sapp, Karen Waisath, Sue Morgan, Nancy Folluo, Diana Seibert, and Kay Zeimke. They were assisted by Field Org. Ryan Downing.
