Al Quinto, 71,
Local 212 Leader,
Passes Away

PITTSFIELD, Mass.

Alfred A. Quinto, 71, a long-time leader of UE Local 212, died April 9.

Brother Quinto was born, raised and educated in Pittsfield. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He went to work for the Beloit-Jones Corp., a major manufacturer of paper-making machinery, in 1956. There he became a member of UE Local 212, serving the membership for many years as president, and retiring in 1992.

Brother Quinto represented Local 212 at every UE National Convention from 1977 through 1991, and served for many years on the executive board of UE District Two.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine; his mother; three daughters, Toni-Jo Guardabascio, Lois Tobin and Paula Quinto; two sons, James A. Quinto and Robert P. Quinto; a brother, Paul A. Quinto; 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
