Takeover Protested
At WBAI/Pacifica

Hundreds of supporters of WBAI and its embattled staff gathered outside the offices of the unionbusting law firm Epstein, Becker and Green on Feb. 20 to protest the corporate takeover of WBAI and the Pacifica stations. John Murdock, a member of Pacifica’s board, is an attorney with Epstein, Becker.

The rush-hour rally was sponsored by Concerned Friends of WBAI and UE Local 404, which represents the radio station’s staff. The union is fighting for the reinstatement Sharan Louise Harper, a UE steward, who was fired without cause or due process in December.

Local 404 also opposes the imposition of new station management by the Pacifica Foundation, the banning of unpaid staff covered by the contract and the presence of security guards. Intl. Rep. Bruce Klipple addressed the rally. Shown here with the UE sign is Local 404 Pres. Joe Miglino.
