Orator and Abolitionist —
'Frederick Douglass'
Visits UE Local

TAUNTON, Mass.

Dr. Charles Pace, performs his one-man show of Frederick Douglass

Dr. Charles Pace, scholar-activist-and cultural worker from the University of Kentucky in Danville, Ky. came to southeastern Massachusetts to perform his one-man show of Frederick Douglass, orator and abolitionist — and former New Bedford shipyard worker. Dr. Pace brought his unique performance to the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, New Bedford Whaling Museum, schools and two area workplaces. One of those workplaces was the Haskon division of Burke Industries in Taunton. Here Dr. Pace as Frederick Douglass speaks to a group of UE Local 204 members at Haskon during their lunch hour. His presentation became front-page news the next day in the Taunton Gazette.
