This is the program we call Social Security. This is our retirement payments.	Monthly benefits that are paid to disabled workers and their families.

Some 44 million U.S. citizens receive benefits from Social Security. Thirty million of these are the elderly and their dependents; six million are the disabled and their dependents, and seven million are the survivors of deceased workers.
