67th UE National Convention
Convention Subsidy
To make it easier for locals without large
treasuries to participate in the UE National Convention, the National Union has adopted a subsidy program.
Please note:
the UE General Executive Board has voted to make some important changes to the subsidy program. Beginning
with last year's convention, only Locals with $10,000 or less in their General Fund Accounts which includes checking,
savings, CDs will be eligible to receive the convention subsidies. These eligibility
requirements will be determined and verified with the information that is submitted on the Local's quarterly audit report for
the period April, May and June 2002. Its is therefore very important for all Locals to be up-to-date in the filing of their
quarterly audit reports. There will be no other acceptable documentation for determining and verifying eligibility. Also, please
note that there is now a 90 day time limit for Locals to submit their subsidy requests
following the convention. Subsidy forms will be distributed at
the convention and Locals are required to submit these completed forms with a voucher and hotel bill within 90 days of the
convention. All requests received after this 90 day period will be denied.
Heres how the convention subsidy program
works
-
Locals pay for transportation.
Please take advantage of discounted rates, where possible, for airline travel. We've arranged
discounted rates with Southwest Airlines and US Airways. If you will be flying on US Airways, tickets should be purchased
more than 60 days prior to your travel date for the greatest savings. Details

The National Union will reimburse
the lost time (for four days) and hotel room expense for one delegate per eligible local. The
Hotel subsidy is provided for four nights (check-in Sunday, check-out Thursday). However, delegates traveling long distances
who arrive on Saturday will have their subsidy paid for a fifth night. This year's negotiated Convention room rate is
$99.00, plus 12% tax for both single and double rooms. Subsidy forms will be distributed at the convention during
registration. They must be submitted for reimbursement within 90 days!

Locals who are not in the
financial position to follow these guidelines should contact
Sec.-Treas. Bruce Klipple in advance so that the necessary arrangements can be made. Please remember, we must have your
quarterly audit for the period April, May and June 2002 for any special arrangements to be considered.
